Razzamataz Theatre School in Newbury is an award-winning children’s theatre school, offering amazing experiences to develop life skills through dance, drama and singing.
Specialising in musical theatre and commercial styles, they will give your child the opportunity to make new friends and keep fit, while developing their self-confidence, communication and teamworking skills! On top of this, there are lots of extra opportunities to perform – such as London’s West End or Disneyland Paris!
Newbury Razzamataz launched in September 2015 and since then it has gone from strength to strength! Now, as they celebrate their 10th anniversary, with numerous national awards under their belt, there are lots of exciting things on the cards for students. Principal
Debbi Ledwith is an accomplished performer, teacher and singer, holding a Performing Arts degree from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Debbi also studied Music Theatre at the Royal Academy of Music and then enjoyed several years as a professional performer across a range of varied roles. She has appeared on the London stage and developed a number of roles in new musicals, as well as being the lead singer of an award-winning duo.
Debbi held the post of Head of Performing Arts at an arts specialist school in Basingstoke for 21 years – a job that she really loved. Working with young performers is her passion, making her move into Razzamataz a natural next step when the opportunity arose in early 2015. In 2022, she made the decision to make Razz her full-time commitment and she hasn’t looked back since.
Razzamataz Newbury is proud to put the welfare of its students at the heart of everything it does. From providing affordable part-time performing arts training for children and young people, to giving them access to some of the most talented performers through specialist workshops and classes, Razzamataz Newbury uses theatre arts within small classes to nurture a child’s confidence and self-esteem, all the while making sure they are having a lot of fun. Dedicated teachers create a supportive environment, encouraging students to challenge themselves to be the best they can be.
Classes are available for children aged 2 – 18: Razz Tots (2-3 years, assisted by parent), Minis (4-5 years), Juniors (6-8 years), Inters (9-11 years) and Seniors (12-18 years). There are also lots of additional classes exclusively for Razz students, including Competition Squad, Acro Arts, LAMDA, and a technical dance group, Razz Project Intense.
Come and join the Razzamataz Newbury family to experience a range of styles from classic West End musical theatre to funky street dance and pop singing. There are always lots of opportunities to perform, from local theatres and festivals to the glittering lights of London’s West End stage or the magic of Disneyland Paris. It’s never too late to join in the fun – come along and try it out for free!
